Parks are so much more than playgrounds and places to walk the dog. Parks can connect us to nature, teach us about our environment, and provide a place of connection and social interaction. Parks enrich our lives physically, emotionally, and economically. In addition, they make communities happier and drive property value up.

In collaboration with the City of Welland, Empire Communities is investing in a new Welland park as part of the Dain City West development project. A new park alongside the recreational canal will house many features, such as a playground, splash pad, open play / green space areas, picnic areas, amphitheatre seating and event staging area, washroom, benches, trees, and a trail system that will connect the Dain City Community to the recently developed Empire Sportsplex Park.

Below is the estimated project timeline for The Cove/Rob Fulbrook Park (Dain City West):

• Earthworks have begun and are nearly completed.
• Servicing and park design are being approved by the City and Region currently. We are hoping to begin construction in October.
• Completion is scheduled for Spring 2024; washroom and splash pad timing are dependent on the Dain West servicing schedule, which is set for Fall 2024
