Canal Bank Street Reconstruction and Realignment

As part of a Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Welland, Empire Communities has committed to the reconstruction and realignment of Canal Bank Street from 500m south of Townline Tunnel Road to St. Clair Drive. The new alignment will facilitate the construction of a multi-use park adjacent to the Welland Recreational Canal. Empire Communities has retained Gibbons Contracting to complete the construction. Construction began in December of 2022 and will continue until completion in June 2024.

Beginning in late November 2023, Transpower will begin installations for street lighting, telecom and hydro utilities in the boulevards. Impacts to traffic are expected to be minimal.
