Subject to Council Approval, The City of Welland will be undertaking a Road Reconstruction program along Coventry Road, Steven Street, Erin Crescent, Macoomb Drive and Maureen Avenue. The proposed upgrades will include a new asphalt surface, curb replacement and sidewalk replacement.

Construction

  • New granular road base.
  • Catchbasin repair and replacement including road sub-drain.
  • New curb and gutter replacement along with the urbanization of Coventry Road.
  • Rehabilitation and replacement of sidewalks.

Traffic Disruptions

  • One-way traffic with Flag Persons through the construction zones when permissible. (minor periods of road closures may be required throughout construction)
  • Open to two-way traffic at night and on weekends/holidays when permissible.

Impacts to Private Property

  • Topsoil and sod to be reinstated where disturbed due to construction activities.
  • Driveway closures will be required during concrete works and while curing. Advance notice to be provided to affected properties.
  • Driveways that have been disturbed due to the construction will be reinstated to match existing material.

Next Steps

  • This project is currently pending Council Approval, construction start is anticipated July 2022.
  • Further notifications to be provided to affected properties prior to construction.
