2022 Infrastructure Renewals 2

Subject to Council Approval, The City of Welland will undertake an Infrastructure Renewals program along Dufferin Street, Foss Road and Schneider Avenue. The proposed upgrades will include a mix of watermain, sanitary sewer, road resurfacing or rehabilitation and sidewalk installation.

Construction

• Dufferin Street:
  • Sanitary sewer replacement, including laterals to the property line.
  • Storm sewer upgrades with additional catch basins.
  • New sidewalk installation.
  • Road rehabilitation, including urbanization with curb and gutter.
  • Landscape cleanup of all disturbed areas
• Foss Road:
  • Watermain replacement with services to the property line.
  • New hydrant installation.
  • Sanitary Sewer spot repair.
  • Cross culvert (crossing Foss Road) replacement West of Balsam Rd.
  • Roadway resurfacing (post underground construction)
  • Landscape cleanup of all disturbed areas.
• Schneider Avenue:
  • Sanitary sewer replacement, including laterals to the property line.
  • Roadway resurfacing (post underground construction)
  • Landscape cleanup of all disturbed areas.

Traffic Disruptions

• One-way traffic with Flag Persons through the construction zones when permissible.
• Open to two-way traffic at night and on weekends/holidays when permissible.

Impacts on Private Property

• Topsoil and sod to be reinstated where disturbed due to construction activities.
• Driveway closures will be required during concrete works and while curing. Advance notice to be provided to affected properties.
• Driveways that have been disturbed due to the construction will be reinstated to match existing material.

Next Steps

• This project is expected to tender in late August 2022, and pending Council Approval, construction start is anticipated in October 2022.
• Further notifications are to be provided to affected properties prior to construction.
