Canal is the new Lake but can we keep it clean

We love the Canal. I do open water swimming down at the Boathouse at the end of Thorald Rd. More people than ever are down there swimming and enjoying the docs, now that the boating program is not in effect. However, there are no or few trashcans down there and the place has garbage all over and piled up on the tiny garbage cans that are there. The canal is a special place we want to keep clean. Can the city put more open mouthed garbage cans down there and add the porta-potty so people can hygienically enjoy this treasure we've been given.
