Consultation has concluded

The City of Welland encourages individuals of all ages and abilities to play an active role in their community. Volunteers not only change other lives, they also change their own lives by building better social connections and make a positive difference in their communities.

If you're ready to challenge yourself and meet new people, the city has a variety of volunteer positions that will allow you to showcase your skills or learn new skills. This summer and fall, the Welland International Flatwater Centre has $15,000 in stipend funds to allocate to community groups through volunteering. Your volunteer hours will essentially benefit the not-for-profit sport or community group of your choice by volunteering at one of the following WIFC events: ROWONTARIO Small Boat Trials, Canadian Dragon Boat Championships, ROWONTARIO Provincial Masters Regatta, 2018 ICF Canoe Polo World Championships.

If volunteering on the waterway doesn't interest you, the City of Welland has a list of other opportunities to choose from also. Through our volunteer program, volunteers are interviewed and matched with positions which meet their individual needs and interests. All volunteers are provided with training and supervision.

The Recreation and Culture Division invests time and resources to provide volunteers with an opportunity for an enjoyable and rewarding experience. We offer on-going methods of recognition and incentive programs for volunteer services on a regular basis throughout the year.
